There is an alarming number of obese people in America. “More than one-third(36.5%) of U.S. adults have obesity” (“Overweight & Obesity.” ). This is a lot of people. Consider that we are just looking at the U.S obesity rates multiple states have much higher obesity rates in the 40 percent range. Considering the number of people that are obese this will make a lot of people sick consing lots of money in medical bills and things like that. People that have obesity are at a higher risk of heart disease (Overweight & Obesity Statistics). Heart disease is one of the most deadly diseases right now. It kill a lot of people and obesity is adding to the number of deaths. “Gaining weight as an adult increases the risk for several cancers, even if the weight gain doesn't result in overweight or obesity” (Health Risks). Even if you aren’t obese weight gain can cause cancer. That’s the last thing we need is more people with cancer.
