Another reason people continue to eat fast food is because it is convenient and cheap, you can always find coupons in the newspaper or apps on your phone. The Obesity epidemic cannot be controlled by suing companies that aren't doing anything wrong. It is only the fault of the companies if they deliberately try to make you sick and kill you. I like to think the obesity epidemic and gun laws are pretty much the same even though they are very different. Saying a gun killed the people and not the shooter is just like saying fast food is making people obese, not the consumer of that food. "I don't think that any of these lawsuits will prevail unless and until there is proof that fast food companies are intentionally and maliciously putting stuff into their food in an effort to make people ill or to addict them to the product. There is no proof of that - no hint of any proof of that - and I think that missing elements makes these sorts of claims very difficult for courts to take seriously" (Collins). There are many other reasons why people are obese, I can guarantee you that no one who is obese gets the recommended amount of daily exercise, up to 80% of all adult americans don't get the recommended amount of exercise. Some of the health risks that go hand in hand with being obese are worse than just being obese; risks of strokes, risks of heart disease, can cause type 2 diabetes, etc. All of these problems can be prevented.
