Because it is so common in my family history I am aware that I am prone to high blood pressure because it is hereditary. Six years ago, I was pregnant and had my son four weeks early because I had extremely elevated blood pressure. My blood pressure during labor was 200/100, then my doctor suggested to receive an epidural to stabilize my blood pressure. High blood pressure caused many other problems as well and caused my son to be born prematurely. The experience I had with high blood pressure was horrible and never crossed my mind that multiple family members of mine also suffered from the same risk
