My interest in Oberlin developed after finding the institution when I searched for small, liberal arts colleges that provided a rigorous education while providing close student-mentor relationships between students and faculty in both the classroom and research. The emphasis placed on studying abroad by Oberlin echoes my own enthusiasm for international experiences and being immersed in culturally and linguistically new environments. Although I have already travelled internationally, studying abroad would allow me to experience the world as a classroom, become prepared for the global economy, and increase my cultural awareness and sensitivity.
