I attended four different academic atmospheres: one that emphasized being globally conscious of differing cultural beliefs and practices, another that neither provided letter grades nor used exams, one that was conventional and used examination as its principle evaluation method, and finally, a yearlong internship that allotted me the ability to develop a medical and professional foundation. Ultimately, my education endeavors brought me to Union College, where I have used the critical thinking abilities that I developed to help me analyze and address issues and developed my test taking strategies that which were delayed due to my attendance at a school that did not provide any form of examinations. My unique academic experience has thrown me in different atmospheres with dissimilar expectations and evaluation methods. Each experience posed its own challenges that I quickly adapted to become successful. Throughout these experiences, I pulled out each environment’s strengths and added them to my toolbox to become flexible, adaptable, and prepared to face the challenges that medical school, residency, and becoming a medical practitioner will pose for me.
