What is obedience? What does it mean to be obedient? Obedience “is the act or practice of obeying; dutiful or submissive compliance” (Dictionary). Sometimes, people as result of being prideful over being obedient there are negative consequences. It is acceptable to have pride, but not to a point where one chooses pride over obedience. People who put pride over obedience are called selfish. It was told in the Bible, “When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the lowly is wisdom”(Pro.11: 2). The quote entailed that when one puts pride over obedience, and then one might feel inferior, but those who are humble gain wisdom. Going the wrong way in life means one is doing negative stuff, and that is not benefitting one the right way. Going the right path in life means you’re doing positive stuff that’s benefitting you the right way in life. For example, cheating on one’s test is an example of going the wrong path. Doing illegal drugs, drinking alcohol, and fighting are also examples of going the wrong path in life. Helping an elderly woman take her bags to her house is an example of going the right path in life. Also, getting honor roll and being a nice person are examples of going the right path. Following the leader, respect, and listening is the characteristics of obedience. Listening shows how one comprehends a person one is communicating with and the information one is attained. Respect shows how one treats someone and honors him or her. Following the leader means either picking the right path or the wrong path in life. To be obedient, the right path is the best path to
