This act was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 30, 1965, in Missouri. It established Medicare, a health insurance program for the elder people. Medicaid is another health insurance program for the poor. Medicare gives access to health insurance for all Americans who are aged 65 and older, all young people with specific disabilities, and individuals with disease. The Medicaid program provides federal funding to states for medical and health related services for persons with limited income. Beyond these public health insurance programs, federal law governs certain aspects of health care practice and health insurance. For individuals, federal law protects the privacy, security, and access to an individual’s health information in many ways. In 1996, Congress passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which established federal privacy and security protections for health information. In order to secure and build up the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) was signed into law in February, 2009 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Young adults who are u to 26 years old they can stay on their parent 's plan. It stops the Insurance companies from refusing or charging more money based on one’s Health status. Everyone 's Health care Insurance will be based on their income which is equal for everyone. Individual will not be discriminated by their gender. Giving free birth control and emergency room visits. Insurance Companies can not take away huge amount of coverage from the sick people.
The basic idea behind Obama’s health care reform bill is that those who can afford to buy health insurance will be able to buy better quality insurance, while more Americans who previously struggled to obtain care will have greater access to it, by the way of Medicaid or subsidized insurance on the health insurance exchanges.
The reforms in President Obama’s health care bill are the first step to finding a balance between a for profit health care system and system that puts patient care before profit. The private health care industry isn’t going anywhere and any rhetoric claiming “ObamaCare is socialism” is a vast inaccurate oversimplification of the real
