As the Affordable Care Act was developing it was given the nickname of Obamacare. When Obama found out he embraced it by stating “You want to call it Obamacare that’s okay, because I do care" (Murse). When in fact, it was the Republicans that give it the nickname jokingly and regret it on how wildly popular it became. Nevertheless, “‘ObamaCare itself was in fact modeled after ‘Romneycare,’ which is the nickname for the health care reform law implemented in the State of Massachusetts by then Republican Governor Mitt Romney”’ ("What Is ObamaCare | What Is the Affordable Care Act?"). “Obamacare is the unofficial name for The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which is a health reform law that was signed on in March 23, 2010, by President Barack Obama” ("What Is ObamaCare | What Is the Affordable Care Act?") . Obama care helped set up health insurance marketplace where they can receive subsidized health insurance, expanding Medicaid, helped seniors and people with disabilities by improving Medicare, and ultimately give coverage to many employees and families. Another aspect of the Affordable Care Act was that it forced people and families to get it if they were not covered and if they refused they would have to get a fine. However, this aspect actually helps Americans from a public health aspect as well.
