The second article I reviewed is titled, “The Effect of Insurance Coverage on Healthcare Expenditures.” This article focused on two points of views regarding utility maximization and moral hazard. One point of view thought that people who normally do not have health insurance are more prone to take care of themselves because they know that if they were to get sick, they can’t go to the doctor, and if they do it will be expensive. Recently, a woman with 2 children and a husband were denied the option to go through the market place. The sole reason for the denial was that they both had the option to sign up their kids for insurance through their job. Both the wife and husband are offered health insurance through their work place. The wife automatically receives paid premiums, but the insurance options for her children are extremely high and the couple cannot afford them. The husband also is offered insurance through his work place, but because of the family’s income, cannot afford to buy that insurance either and the children are without. The family thought they would have to pay the penalty charges, but because of their income did not have to. Needless to say there are many details that still remain to be fixed, so that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act can benefit everyone that really needs it. Because the workers have the option of obtaining extremely expensive insurance through their work place for their children, they are not given the opportunity to even apply for ObamaCare. I think that all families should be given the opportunity to apply for ObamaCare. There should be a section where they could enter what the employers are offering to workers so that workers have an equal opportunity as
