Trump’s idea to completely remove and repeal this law would be very costly, there would have to be a way to get back the money lost also how would he transition the millions of people from one insurance to another without leaving them without medical insurance. The Affordable Care Act which was signed into law in 2010, has been the topic of debates on whether it should be scrapped entirely or just rectify the problems that taint it. By scrapping the ACA completely it would be taking insurance away from 22 million people who rely on this law. On the contrary, the pros of this law are having a dependent until the age of 26 on your health insurance plan and that you cannot be denied because of pre-existing conditions. The best way to save money on block granting is to create jobs first, with an increase of jobs it decreases the amount of people on Medicaid. It could reap in the huge savings if done correctly. “Obamacare has reduced pay for workers in small businesses and reduced employment by more than 350,000 jobs nationwide. State and local officials have conceded that Obamacare forced municipal governments to cut hours of part-time.” (Trump 2016). Employers have circumvented paying for insurance for their employees by hiring part time workers. With less jobs means more people are more dependent on Medicaid because they cannot afford insurance.
