Oasis Católico Santa Rafaela
I completed my twenty hours of field experience at Oasis Católico Santa Rafaela, a tutoring center for students pre-k through fourth grade. To meet the “Belonging and Love Needs” tier, I formed friendships with Students A and B. I was able to do this by remembering subjects they found interesting and giving them a platform the express their thoughts. One instance in particular that I tried to meet the “Belonging and Love Needs” of Student A was when he told me last semester when his birthday was, I remembered. I made him a simple birthday card and drew a race car on the inside. He was so happy that I remembered and told me I was his favorite tutor. To meet the “Esteem Needs” tier, I treated Student A and Student B with respect and asked their opinion on the subjects we learned about or books we read. Studies suggest that the “Esteem Needs” tier is the most difficult for a person to get past, and that esteem is not only how society views a person but also how that person views themselves (Gobin, Teeroovengadum, Becceea, Teeroovengadum, 2012); this is one reason why I placed it at top priority in regards to Student A and Student
