The University of Oklahoma (OU) prides itself in being a diverse campus with endless opportunities. These opportunities are beneficial to all students, but not so easily achieved by a handful of students. The Native American community at The University of Oklahoma is a growing community to all involved, but is also one of the smallest communities within the campus in Norman, Oklahoma. Due to the lack of communication within this group of the Native American community here at OU, most Native American students on campus are not yet established and are not benefiting from the opportunities available to them through the university.

Robin Starr Williams. Mr. Williams studied Native American students on various universities across the nation. He was in sight to learn what kind of community they came from, and to observe how they were integrating within the campus in leadership aspects. This study came to The University of Oklahoma (OU), and high lighted four Native American students on campus. It incorporated several Native students and described their journey to OU and where they were from. Mr. Williams records a student describing where they were from, “Ours was a tribal, rural community within the country but everybody who lived out there lived on original allotment lands, so that’s where we lived in northeast Oklahoma” (Williams, 75). As he told of more students coming from similar backgrounds, there seems to be a connection between their leadership roles/involvement on campus to the type of community they came from. This study concluded that Native American students need a cultural comfortably on campus in order to establish themselves.
