Executive Overview The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education, or OCLRE for short, faces an issue of translation and understanding among their publics. Founded in 1983, OCLRE strives to ‘bring citizenship to life’ through the partnership with teachers. However, OCLRE does not solely focus on citizenship, nor work exclusively with teachers, as stated in their current motto. The organization is an assemblage of five middle- and high-school civic and law-related programs that teach students a wide variety of skills ranging from critical thinking to public speaking. Most importantly, students are educated about our democratic system and strongly encouraged to become leaders within their local communities. OCLRE struggles to communicate their mission and objectives to potential school districts. The organization wishes to expand and have more schools implementing their programs. …show more content…
The reliance on state government funding is a concern for OCLRE, who fears funding may be drastically cut. The organization has an active alumnus with continued volunteer and sponsor support. OCLRE’s publics are teachers and educators, students grades 4-12, funding sponsors and potential donors, and legal community professionals. Only five full-time employees work in OCLRE’s office. The employees struggle to find the time to do everything – public relations, social media, outreach to new schools, and various program implementations. The company has an account on most social media platforms, but fails to be consistent with posting and public interaction. Our secondary research shows a small but consistent audience on these social media platforms. We see many opportunities to utilize these free, and often very effective, platforms to grow our audience and brand
