In so doing, children will be able to form goals to achieve. This includes encouraging achievement (academic, athletic, social, etc.), special talents and skills. Parents can establish their children's foundation in the home environment and then it can be reinforced in the school system (OASIS School for Interdisciplinary Studies, 2016, p.61). The skills thought in the home environment will be normalized as interaction occurs in the school environment.
Individuals at the adolescence stage are establishing their identity. It is a challenge for adolescents to adapt to changes in their bodies and a myriad of emotional experience. As such, the role of parents is to help them in the process of the adolescence stage. This includes guiding their sexual drive in a positive way; achieving independence from parents and other adult authorities, including forming their own code of values and identifying educational and career goals. The adolescence stage is critical, as such; they need to be guided through the process, but with the autonomy to do so
