O Think'st Thou We Shall Ever Meet Again Analysis

As Romeo and Juliet are saying their goodbyes to each other after Romero’s banishment, Juliet asks, :” O, think’st thou we shall ever meet again(809:51)?” Just before Romeo leaves for Mantua, Juliet asks if they will ever meet again. Juliet is unsure for her feelings of doubt foreshadows Romeo’s death, but Romeo believes they will. When Juliet responds to Romeo, she says that she sees him dead. The audience feels gloomy because they already know that they already know that they will meet while one is dead. Juliet’s confusion caused her not to think straight by overlooking the warnings. Juliet is letting Romeo go, even though she is scared that she might never see him again. Before leaving for Mantua Romeo meets with Juliet for the last time. She is willing to give up her own family for him. That foreshadows how Juliet took Romeos side instead of her family Tybalt after Tybalt’s murder. Juliet is so love struck that she becomes reckless. When Romeo becomes her world, Juliet would sacrifice anything and everything for him including their lives. All of a sudden Romeo and Juliet admit that they love each other and decide to get married. Juliet is unsure is he truly loves her. Ironically the audience knows that he really loves her. All the doubts in her brain disappear when Romeo swears his love for her. When they are saying their goodbyes to each other Juliet foreshadows their deaths by saying she could kill Romeo with her love. If Juliet was so in love with Romeo then she wouldn’t have doubted his love for her. All the doubts were warning Juliet be she chose not to listen to
