O’Hara on the other hand doesn’t care how his poetry is viewed but he does explain that poetry is just strong emotions and feelings on a paper. My question matters because if an author has been criticized for their work, they write another piece of work to explain their work to their “confused readers”. This is essentially what O’Hara does in his text and Emerson also writes a lot to explain his justification for writing poetry the way he does. There are many critics out there that believe poetry is not that deep and there should be a specific way of writing one.

They were writers and critics and they are definitely writing to those who have a hard time understanding poetry and even those who believe poetry is written in one specific order. O’Hara has “broken” the rules of poetry and the justification he gives for it is that he isn’t God. Emerson on the other hand also says that poetry doesn’t need to be written in a specific way and one should be able to choose how they write it. Both authors do a great job of thoroughly explaining poetry and why it is significant to read poetry with a passion. Understanding poetry is not easy and one can never be on a personal level with the writer because the writer is the one who feels something nobody else
