On September 9th I attended a Phi Slam event called Kaleidoscopic Color-Dressed Chromatic Dance Fest. This was a social dance event that is completely dry and it is essentially a giant dance party. The guys in Phi Slam, which is a Christian organization that is similar to a fraternity but they do not do typical frat things such as drinking, hazing or smoking, set up the event. Phi Slam has events just like fraternities and sororities do. This event was just one of the many events they put on throughout the year.…

From the first day I stepped on the diamond he saw something in me that nobody except my grandfather had told seen. The four years that Coach Leake and I spent together trying to capture the schools first state championship ring were some of the greatest seasons I ever played. I left early on Thursday for my descent back into my hometown, the cold chilly city of Pittsburgh. That night, my friend who goes to Duquesne University, invited me out with her and her friends to go to the 3Lau concert at Club Diesel. Usually the club is over 21 on every night but Thursday, so this night was special for anyone above the age of 18. Whenever she told me that 3Lau would be performing, I got super excited because I had seen them once before this past summer at a music festival on Atlantic City Beach and they were amazing. I arrived home and grabbed a bag of clothes and the necessities to stay over her dorm room that night, hopped in my car, and drove down to Pittsburgh.…

Growing up we are all told that lying is bad, no parent has ever taught a child that lying was something they should be doing. Personally my parents had always been very strict on lying and if I had been caught in the act it was game over. From when I was able to comprehend what lying was and even today I try and be as honest as I can. However this day in particular, I made an exception that I would come to regret. It was a blazing hot May day in the northwest suburb of Chicago, otherwise known as Barrington, Illinois.…

My nerves were on edge, my adrenaline was pumping; I watched our third leg trailing our school’s rival, Hastings, the anchor was up next for our 400 freestyle relay and the only thing that stood in the way of winning or losing the race was me. Immediately I dove in; the sight of my opponent's feet next to me made me swim harder and faster. Coming into the fourth and last lap I used everything that I had left in me to finish strong. Right at that moment, I saw an opportunity and took advantage of it, I noticed my opponent was closing in too early. Sprinting to the wall as fast as I can, I glanced at the time score and saw a bright florescent number one next to my lane, at that moment I was at loss of words.…
