An innovative idea which emerged from working with an existing learner was to promote the customer service level 2 award to pharmacies throughout Swansea. The idea first came to light when one of my learners changed employers. The learner went from working within HSBC call centre to a chemist in Gorseinon and was keen to continue with her NVQ. I was concerned that the learner would be unable to meet the requirements of the business administration standards in order to achieve four additional units and therefore achieve her full customer service framework. However, after much discussion with her new employer I was made aware that the learner was required to undertake the National Pharmacy Award to become qualified to work as a dispensing assistant at the pharmacy. I used my initiative to contact the institute of customer service to enquire whether this award could be used towards the level 2 customer service framework. I gained approval for this from ICS. As a result of this successful framework outcome, I put the idea of marketing for further learners in this area of work to my line manager. However he agreed that if this initiative was to work there was a need for extra staff resources. My role was to market and promote this innovation idea and if I could create sufficient demand my line
