Conclusion:
Overall, this nutrition project had an impact on my life. I saw a drastic change from project one to the end of Project two. Looking back on my project one logs, I barely had any type of fruit or vegetables in my diet. I ate a ton of processed food like chicken nuggets or frozen grilled chicken that I could easily throw in the microwave and eat within a minute. For project two, I had a goal in mind to lose two pounds and be on a vegetarian diet. With this goal, I knew that I had to make changes to my diet. I have been wanting to start a vegetarian diet for a while, but did not have the motivation to do so. This project forced me to change my eating habits into healthier ones. At first it is easy to feel overwhelmed and you may want to give up. When I first started my vegetarian diet I felt limited on what I could eat. I was constantly hungry and wanting to just give up. It was hard to find motivation to keep going. It is important that these patients do not give up within the first couple of weeks no matter how hard it is. Patients should research new recipes to not feel so limited with what they can eat. Finding new ways to eat healthier food can be exciting and enjoyable. However, you have to have the right mindset. Starting with small goals is a great way to get started. This can be” I will run two days in a row” or “I am going to go three days without fast food.” These small goals help make the big overall goal easier to accomplish. If the goal starts out too big, it might be hard to want to keep going because you are not receiving any rewards. It is important to feel like you are improving. Without journaling it is hard to know if you are eating within your specific ranges. Although you may be cutting down on your amount of calories you consume your fat or carbohydrate intake may be drastically higher. This will make it harder to lose weight. It is important that you are getting enough nutrients in your body each day. For instance, if you are not eating enough protein you could develop a vitamin B12 definitely. This can be serious. Also, journaling can help you develop well balanced meals and help you see how far you have come. When I looked back at my journals from project one, I saw a huge change in my diet from then to now. When I was journaling, I wrote down my thoughts, feelings, and emotions about the diet and exercise plan. On bad days, writing down how I felt helped me relieve the stress. If I needed motivation, I looked bad at the good days of the logs to find motivation again. Overall, journaling is important to keep track of how we are doing with our food intake and exercise plan. Journaling gives us a tangible item to hold us accountable for our success and for our failures in our journey to a healthier
