During my study abroad in Spain, I had the opportunity to do community service related to food/nutrition. As a volunteer at the Casa Familiar Virgen de la Encarnacion, I assisted the nurses who took care of the disabled with feedings and daily exercises. During the summer of 2014, I was able to assist Abby Forman with the MyPainted Plate project by being a leader/helper of the nutrition lessons being taught at six summer day camps. This was the first time I saw all the works that go into carrying out a study. I was eager to learn all of the process from preparing for the project and assessing participants to gathering and inputting data into NDSR. I felt like we were making a difference by delivering nutrition education to underrepresented, low-income
