Persuasive Essay On Degrading School Lunches

Lunch seems to be one of the things students look forward to throughout their day. They get to be out of the classroom, talk with friends and enjoy themselves. But what are they faced with? Degrading school lunches. They have to wait in a long line just to get something that doesn 't even look or smell appealing. Although school lunches have to meet a certain dietary plan, they are ridiculous because you don’t get enough food, it is gross, there are not enough nutrients in the meal, and it is overpriced for how much food we are actually getting.
The proportions of school lunches are small. As you go through the lunch line they just scoop your food onto the tray without a care. They do not even look at who they are giving the food to. Some people require more food intake to satisfy them. People who are more athletic require more proteins and need the food for energy. Without that energy, they could slack off and not have the motivation to pay attention during class. This is a problem among many schools. The schools have to meet a certain budget but should that come before a student 's health? One of the lunches at Four County was just two cheese breadsticks, vegetables, fruit, and a milk. How is two cheese breadsticks enough to be called a meal? They need to make bigger portion sizes. Also, the side salads they hand out are

For your tiny meal, you have to pay $3.50. That is a little outrageous if you ask me. You can get a grilled cheese and Northwest that is almost the size of the styrofoam trays for a $1.50 and that fills you up more than the school lunches. It’s crazy how expensive school lunches are. No one should have to pay $3.50 for something that isn 't even going to satisfy you. You can buy bigger and healthier lunches in other places. Most schools always have a second option of a salad. These a good portion size. They satisfy one’s hunger and is

They argue that meals served at school are healthy and balanced. The NSLP has cut the amount of calories and sodium in lunch and upped the amount of “fresh” fruit and vegetables. The reality is the food served at lunches is unappetizing. It is generally soggy and unflavorful and fruits and vegetables are not fresh. Even when a student eats their whole lunch, it is not filling enough for the amount of calories a student burns. People that are for the school lunch program argue that this is the only full meal some students get.…

But while all of this is happening some schools are trying to fix this problem. In the same article, it states, “People are trying to make school lunches better, but now the food they are serving has fewer calories, fat, and more.” This is bad because kids won’t get enough healthy food in their bodies. Another reason isn’t about the lunch food, but about the kids. Many kids are still not eating healthy at school. Their lunch money is, instead of being spent in vending machines on sweets and snacks.…

He also states that "small proportions of students report that the most important reason (they do not eat the food) is because they are not hungry, they thought the meal was too expensive, they did not realize they could eat a school lunch, or they had other reasons" (217S). The school lunch meal was considered expensive according to a student. But, what if these student 's don 't want to eat school lunches and they don 't want snacks from the vending machine? Schools could at least give them the option for seconds, it will either get eaten or thrown away anyway so what would it hurt.…

No these students suffer because the adults and supposed "role models" can 't use there…
