One of the greatest detrimental effects had to be the amount of pills that the author had to consume per day. He gained a good deal of weight because he changed his eating habits thinking that he was getting all the nutrients he needed from the nutraceuticals allowing him to feel more comfortable eating more junk food that contained less nutrients and more calories. It took him three months to lose the weight that he gained. His blood sugar did increase, although not significantly. His vitamin D level increased over 75%. Taking too much vitamin D can cause an abnormally high blood calcium level, resulting in nausea, constipation, confusion, abnormal heart rhythm, and even kidney stones (“Am I Getting Too Much Vitamin D?, ” 2016). I do agree with the author about getting vitamins and nutrients from food. In some cases, high doses of vitamins can be toxic and cause imbalances in the body.
