The individual’s strains of resistance and conformity should be overpowered by the patient. There are three methods which can effect realization and achievement of unfreezing. First method is increasing the driving forces which direct the patient’s current behavior from the existing status quo or situation. By increasing the driving forces, the equilibrium changes by increasing, hence, initialize the process of the desired change in the patient’s behavior. Second method is decreasing the restraining forces which negatively affect the movement of the patient behavior from the current state of the equilibrium (Lewin, 2013). When the restraining forces are decreased, the action encourages the driving force to effect the desired change in the patient. The third method of attaining the unfreezing is identifying a combination which balances the effects of restraining forces and the driving forces (Shirey, 2013). The third method should ensure that the restraining forces should not exceed the driving forces since increasing the restraining forces pushes the change to the opposite and undesired
