After acquiring my Bachelor in Nursing in April, my next plan is to acquire a Master’s degree. I believe this is the way to go since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires nurses led care in the community. Since these leadership positions require a Master’s degree, I would want to be one the nurse leaders that make a difference with providing affordable care to our nation. During this time I will engage in strengthening my skills by doing small courses such as Advanced Life Support and other management and leadership courses. This I believe will make me a better leader. At this time I have no intentions of pursuing a PHD in nursing since there is little scope for PHD nurses. One of my greatest strength in leadership is to use a combination of leadership skills to successfully provide care for my patients. A combination of Democratic, Charismatic, Cross cultural and to a lesser extent, Autocratic leadership style were proven to be successful. Shared Governance model has been used in the past which has proven to be successful. Before the recommendations of any changes, a careful analysis of the workplace situation has to done to determine where changes are needed. Before I carry out my plans, I will use my leadership skills and engage my staff where I will explain my plans to them and get their input about the strategy planned to create a change. After meeting with my subordinates, I will take plans for change to my supervisors before I implement changes on the
