Amidst the complexity of the nation’s health care system is the growing problem of nursing shortages. In reality, nursing shortages is being experienced globally. Kohn (2017) portrayed the critical situation vividly wherein most developed countries attract talented nurses from less fortunate countries to solve the nursing shortages. Although this strategy may offer practical solution to the nation’s nursing shortage, the prospect of nursing interventions on promoting global health may not be as promising this way. In short, the stronger nations take advantage of the already struggling countries. If solutions have to be found, the focus should be on promoting the quality of care though nurses’ advocacy.
