During my time in college, I struggled in courses unrelated to my major and earned grades of C’s and D’s. During my freshman year, in my attempt to please my parents and peruse a career in nursing, I earned two D’s while taking the prerequisites needed to apply to nursing school. After my less than stellar performance in those courses, I decided not to pursue a career in medicine. Not following the career path my parents prescribed left me directionless, and unsure of the courses to take, and the career to puruse.
