Nursing Scholarship Essay

I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is caring and helping others who are in need of help. I believe nursing is the protection and promotion of health, prevention of diseases, and advocacy of individuals, families, and communities. The core of nursing is building and maintaining good relations with patients, and work as a collaborative team to make differences in patients’ lives when they are in difficult situations. The job of nursing is not always appreciated, so I will try to do my best that I can. When patients are not happy with my care or me, I will not take personally. So, I will try to learn, value, and respect others cultures as much as I can. My vision for myself as a nurse is that I will provide the best care to all my patients as per my ability no matter what their gender, race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. When I take care of my patients, I will not cross my professional boundaries and talk about my personal things no matter how caring and nice they are. As a nurse, I will use my therapeutic communication technique when I am dealing with patients, families, and even with co-workers. I am always honest about my knowledge. If the information is beyond my knowledge, I will seek help from others to give information to my patients and families. I will respect others’ professions regardless of their positions, their distinctive knowledge and abilities, and work collaboratively with them to improve patients’ health condition. As a nurse, I am responsible to provide best care to my patients, so I will always look opportunities to learn and update my education through continuing education or researching things based on my nursing practice to be a productive
