She has been a nurse for over 35 years and this year will be entering into her 30th year of OR nursing, which seems incredible to me. She has inspired me with her wealth of knowledge and eagerness to teach me. Kelly offered to be my alternate preceptor and I cannot imagine my semester going as smoothly as it did without her being there and being a part of my learning experience. I hope to take what both have taught me and apply that to my own vision and style of being an operating room nurse. Continuing on this thought, I feel I have changed my practice of nursing because of the practicum. I feel I have learned to be more organized and concise when caring for my patients and have developed different ways to give report when bringing a patient from the pre-op area to the operating room and from the operating room to the post anesthesia care unit. I also have learned to go with the flow, which is something I have changed in my practice. As a person I like to have a very concrete plan of what is happening during the day and try to plan out my shift. However, I know with the operating room things can change in an instance and I feel I have learned to let things happen and go with the flow. I feel that my practice will always have changes to them based off of experiences and new
