The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) was developed by the American Nurse Association (ANA) and is comprised of a group of professionals such as Registered Nurses, outcome indicator experts, database and web programmers and nurse researchers. NDNQI compiles a database that collects data related to nursing care. Upon collection of this data, a nursing sensitive indicator list of compiled different phenomena that occur on hospital units and how these phenomena can be improved within the various units of the hospital. Of the nursing indicators, I have selected the following 5 to define quality nursing care: patient falls, pressure ulcer prevalence, RN education/certification, skill mix and nosocomial infections
