Nursing Personal Statement

After graduating high school in my home country, it was time for me to get out of my comfort zone and decide my career path. I still remember the day when we were having dinner and my dad asked me, “What do you think about nursing as a career?” I believe that’s when I began to consider becoming a nurse. Soon after that, I found myself joining nursing school for my diploma level in nursing, but I must admit that I was yet to like the profession. To my surprise, the exposure to patient care helped me see the difference nurses could make in someone’s life among which seeing a patient get better and return home felt like the biggest achievement. In addition to that, the respect and admiration given by the patient is sure a priceless gift. Following my graduation from three years nursing program in Nepal, I was hired as an operating room nurse which remained short but it was a wonderful experience. In my opinion, being a surgical nurse is a very challenging job for it requires dexterity, tactfulness and vigilance to facilitate in safe completion of surgical procedures. And getting back to working as an operating room nurse with better competency and expertise has become the biggest dream of mine. I believe as a nurse I will be able to help the sick people heal and support them during the most difficult phase of their lives which in turn gives me a sense of satisfaction and joy. In addition to that, nursing is a career that provides me the opportunity to learn new things everyday such as getting exposed to advanced and upgraded technologies for better patient care.
