I have always known that I wanted to obtain a PhD. My compassion is influenced by learning new information in order to empower, motivate and improve the lives of women holistically. This has been repeated throughout my writing assignments since the beginning of the first doctoral assignment. As for now, it still holds true that my plan is to conduct a research study on African American women in the area of fitness; however, I am interested in observing something different than behaviors that lead to the maintenance stage of change. My interest has shifted to studying how “African American Women’s Level of Commitment to fitness lifestyle: An accountability approach”. As I continue to learn more through the required courses, additional ideas are being formed. Week seven’s assignment on creating a diversity lecture opened my mind to new and creative possibilities of impacting the population I choose to study. I thought about influencing the sciences not just with outcomes but with evidence-based literature and workbooks that can provide a therapeutic model for health-giving to women. …show more content…
Initially I did not know what to expect, consequently, these past eight weeks have given me an estimate of how much time is required for studies. Scheduling my times and dates in a notebook and setting my mobile alarm helps to maintains punctuality. I have days that are dedicated to reading material only. Other days are utilized for research and writing. The last day of the week is spent on revision and reviewing material written. Scheduling does not always work as planned but having one definitely improves the chances of obtaining goals set for the week along with reducing
