Essay On Why I Want To Be A Nurse

Having a weak immune system as a child, I was in the hospital frequently. My mother was taking care of my sister and I. My father wasn’t around during those times and it was very taxing for my mother to take care of both of us. Being in the hospital so often was demanding for my mother and during those times, the nurses and doctors were very good to us, taking care of me when my mother couldn’t. I admired the nurses, especially because they went out of their way to make it as comfortable as possible for us. Since then, nursing has been a profession I have respected and aspired towards.

I have good work ethics, positive attitude, friendly and reliable. I am able to work well with a team and individually as well as having good team leading skills. I have good communication and interpersonal skills. I am able to learn from my mistakes and I am self-aware. I have worked on my weakness and improved my strengths.
I am very enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills. I am driven to learn, improve my skills and take opportunities to better my knowledge and skills. I am participating in some short courses at my workplace to improve my knowledge. I keep up to date with my training and at my workplace we are trained in first aid, health and safety, manual handling etc.
I have had experience in working in demanding job and I am able to manage my personal and professional life well. I am very adaptable and I particularly liked working in A&E as a student nurse, as I was able to make use of a lot of theory and practical skills at the A&E placements. I was able to learn new skills such as assessing sick child, plastering etc.
Nursing is a lifelong learning career and I am eager to learn and work toward pursing my goal. I hope to go to university and be able to work within nursing
