I have always had the desire in being able to help others. I believe that nursing gives enables that chance to happen in a person’s life. Although, nursing may be a challenging and demanding job, it is a lifelong experience and this would enable me to work alongside with people who needs the help and care that they need. In this profession, I would not only help and care for people but also enjoy working in partnerships with numerous practitioners that would benefit and provide a more effective health care service. My mother is a nurse herself and often, I would visit my mother in the hospital and I would witness how the nurses are applying the 6C’s – care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment to the client and the family of the client. By becoming a nurse, I hope to improve the quality of care that the patients receive by attending nursing conferences which is run by the RCN and that way, I could learn from other nurses. …show more content…
I have taken up BTEC Health and Social Care and this backs up my interest in working with the health and well-being needs of others. The subject helps me to develop my knowledge about what is currently going on in the public health systems. The subject emphasises on being able to provide individualised care using a holistic approach and at the same time, applying the care values base into action such as maintaining confidentiality. The course has helped develop my skills such as literacy skills, research skills, personal organisational skills and time management skills, IT skills and personal presentation skills which is needed for being a nurse especially dealing with patients and handling paper works. I have also completed a First Aid course which gives me an advantage to apply the knowledge for any emergency
