Nursing interventions that will aid in this patient remaining free from infection include monitoring for signs of actual infection such as redness, swelling, purulent drainage, elevated temp, until lacerations are healed. Interventions to help the grandmother achieve this goal include allowing the grandmother to share feelings and encourage the caregiver to identify available family and friends who can assist the grandmother.
