Nursing is not just a career, but the unique ability to restore one’s health to their holistic state of wellbeing. Nursing is me being able to change a dressing of a patient with anal cancer without showing any sign of disgust or revulsion, because once the patient sees that very expression they will consider their condition awful and terrible. It is the duty of a nurse to make their patient feel happy and cared for in order for the patient to go out and face the world again. Nursing is me been able to take care of a patient who is at their worst state of health being there physically, mentally and emotionally to support and it is the connection one makes that makes the difference.
