Fortney, et al., (2013), revealed practice-based collaborative care has been shown to improve depression outcomes in numerous randomized effectiveness trials. This study goes on to show that training on-site nurses about depression can improve outcomes through encouraging activities for the patients that are rewarding and social. Another study by Fortney, Burgess, Bosworth, Booth, and Kaboli (2011), shows that over a period of time the perceived access and actual access changes in the minds of patients when using telemedicine. In other words, patients feel that they are receiving more care simply by having phone and computer access to the provider(s). This study also showed that educating the providers on cultural needs by matching patients up with a provider that can speak their language or understand their culture is best-evidence
