Increasing patient acuity together with the complex nature of our healthcare system calls for better patient management across the care continuum. As an advanced practice nurse, I need to translate evidence into practice change, and implement quality improvement processes in specific practice settings, systems, or with specific populations to improve health or health outcomes. Additionally, I need to be prepared not only use, but also help design the required health information technology. While I was introduced to many of these concepts during my Master of Science program, I wish to continue my education in preparation for the profession’s eventual move to DNP as entry to practice.
