Study design
This proposal is a qualitative descriptive study of older women resident of retirement homes, regarding their perceptions of physical activity.

Participant recruitment and selection
Recruitment of participants will be made at several retirement homes located throughout Adelaide: Vailima Gardens Retirement Village; ECH Inc; St Morris Retirement Village; St Georges Retirement Village. With the permission of the institutions, flyers will be posted on communal areas to advertise the study and recruit volunteers. The flyers display the basic selection criteria (age ≥ 65 years, living in retirement homes), location and estimated duration of interviews and contact details. This research project will not offer any kind of compensation for participation, but will cover transport costs if necessary. (Appendix 02: Sample Flyer)
The inclusion criteria for participant selection will be: women, aged 65 years and older, residing in retirement homes located in Adelaide (SA), capable of communicating in english, oriented in time and space (Gonzalez & Jirovec, 2001) and able to provide own consent (Lin et al , 2007). Exclusion criteria will include language other than english, being bed-bound, dementia (So & Pierluissi, 2012) and disabilities that impairs the participant ability to effectively communicate
