Nursing Project Reflection

Working on this project was pretty easy in the beginning, for my group. We all worked hard on our portion and we had no major conflicts. The easiest part of working on the team was delegating the responsibilities of each team member. The very first week that we received the project my group met, and claimed the part of the project we felt we could do best. Each one of us felt confident in our ability to do well within the boundaries of our responsibilities. This gave us immediate confidence and a belief that we would be successful in our project goals. Nurses need to be aware of all of the methods used in order to promote health, and more specifically CAM because that is the project focus. Nurses must understand the foundation of the common CAM practices, such as yoga, aromatherapy, acupuncture, etc. This is because they may need determine how effective or ineffective some practices may be. An open mind is also an important for the nurse, in regards, to health promotion. Nurses must understand how some CAM practices are common within certain races and cultures, and they cannot immediately discredit there effectiveness because it does not follow the ideas of Western medicine. Nurses also need to keep an open mind for their own benefit. Nurses with an open mind may stray away from the prescribed medicines for personal ailments, and decide to try a CAM method. Only nurses with an open mind can see the practical benefits of CAM, and chose whether or not these methods fit their needs. Lastly, a nurse needs to be educated on the risks and benefits of CAM methods. Some CAM practices have virtually no side effects, while others can pose great danger. A nurse needs to understand which CAM practices would most benefit themselves and their patients. I chose Reverence because at times I have a hard time respecting those who have severely wronged others. For example, I do not feel that rapist, murderers, and thieves deserve any respect. These people are only debts to society, and I do not see why they should be coddled as if they are not deplorable human beings. It is hard to recognize the dignity of a person, who has stripped that away from others. Also, I honestly do not know if I would give the required help to a person who has committed any of these atrocities, so I would hope to improve myself in that way. Lastly, I hope to improve in the value of Service. At times I am not very compassionate, I have a very cut and dry personality and it is hard for me to understand how people feel, even in tough situations. I very much feel that people should put their emotions aside and continue to move forward. I am easily frustrated when people are agitated merely because of a bad day.I feel that it is nobody business but their own, and they should move
