Nursing Educator Interview Essay

Nursing Educator Interview I recently had the opportunity to sit with the Nursing Educator at my local hospital to ask her a series of questions regarding her profession. During her 30 years as a nurse she has gained a plethora of knowledge, experience and critical thinking skills. As a nurse holding a masters degree in the science of nursing, she actively uses her clinical abilities within the acute and critical care unit while also successfully functioning as a nursing educator. After 5 years working in critical care she obtained her Clinical Certification in Critical Care. An ongoing desire for education and training within the acute and critical care department drove her to acquire this prestigious certification. In addition to this specialized certification being a national standard in critical care, the ability to sustain an up-to-date knowledge base of critical care benefits the maintenance of well-being and improvement of patient health. As a clinical educator, her role within the Healthcare Delivery System combines staff education with a clinical practice component in acute and intermediate care. It is easy to identify the nurses that truly love their profession and the patients for which they care. While this may be an easy identifiable trait, it is also obvious to realize which nurses display behaviors and mannerisms that show an unfortunate discontent. I was truly impressed by this nurse’s experience and outlook on the nursing and educational field.
