Nursing research is research that provides evidence used to support nursing practice has been developing since the time of Florence nightingale to the present day where many nurses now work as researchers based in universities as well as in the health care setting. Purpose of nursing research – This refers to the aim and goal of nursing research. It also refers to the reason why research is carried out in nursing. There are two main purposes of nursing research.
i. The general purpose and ii. The specific purpose. The general purpose is to answer questions or solve problems relating to nursing. The specific purpose of nursing research is to identify, describe, explore, explain, predict and control problems relevant to nursing profession.
2.1 PERSONAL CONTEXT: As a nurse practitioner, the application of the purpose of research starts from when the patient comes into the ward by identifying the needs of the patient and exploring ways of meeting such needs.
