Nursing Career Research Paper

I aspire to make a career from nursing and above all to make a very good nurse. My volunteering work at Bridgwater hospital has taught me a lot about myself and others; mainly it’s taught me that nursing is the career path for me. I have always looked upon the profession with great admiration and my interest to study in this field stems from love of science, the human body and how it works in the organised way that it does. Mostly, I want to do something which I’m proud of and will make a true difference to people. The devotion and humanity of nurses who go above and beyond for their patients in difficult times is truly inspiring. Being a nurse requires qualities such as excellent communication skills and compassion, it is critically important to be able to interact with patients, their families and other health professionals working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with the patient at the heart. I gained good communication skills at secondary school where as a peer mediator and cyber-mentor I participated in team challenges and worked together with peers as a group, I subsequently progressed to become a team leader for 2 further years.
Nursing is trying your best to provide quality care for the patients as far possible through evidence based learning which leads to sound decision making. In addition as an individual you must be reliable and hardworking which I believe I am as I’m studying my A-Levels whilst working part time in retail. Therefore, I have to be reliable as if I’m not my work place suffers and so does the customer service.
