They become registered nurses, through by getting their associate’s degree (ADN) or bachelor’s degree (BSN) from a program that is fully accredited. This takes two to four years, after they must choose to specialize in either trauma or critical care. During schooling, nurses will learn how to assess a patient's health, pharmacology and etc. Trauma nurses also need to be certified in basic cardiac life support and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation
After completing their Bachelor's or Associate's degree, nurses have to take their NCLEX-RN examination in order to become registered nurses. Only when they pass can they can study to get their emergency room nursing certification. To get this certification, nurses have to take an exam by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing. During this exam, the nurses will be tested on how well they handle cardiac, respiratory or neurological emergency situations and procedures done in the emergency room. Most trauma nurses choose a specific field on which they want to specialize in which they will need to be certified for. Some of the specialities they can choose are emergency care or injury
