I had experienced multiple doctor’s appointments with an ears, nose, and throat specialist, ENT, during this time period of my life due to having uncontrollable nose bleeds. I had to get several procedures done to the vessels in my nose and experiencing these procedures got me interested into the medicine aspect of nursing. It was not until the birth of my brother that made me realize the true meaning of being a nurse. It was my freshman year of high school and my family was getting prepared for a new addition. With my interest in medicine my mom allowed me to be there for the birth of my youngest brother. So, while I was up in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for the sixteen hour labor my mom went through, I saw all of what the nurses did in order to make my mom feel strong. They held her hand through the contractions, talked to her about what her babies name would be, and encouraged her to keep pushing when it got unbearable. This type of care I saw showed me what it was to truly be a nurse, which is to be compassionate, humane, and
