When choosing a career, one looks for something that is fulfilling, rewarding and beneficial. With all those aspects in mind I truly believe that the field of Nursing is the perfect choice. Nursing offers great job opportunities, vast work areas, benefits, flexibility and last but not least the satisfaction of providing help to others.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the Nursing field is a rapidly growing occupation that continues to have many opportunities available to those looking for employment. Nursing is expected to grow to 581,500 jobs by the year 2018. That is a 22% increase of available nursing job since 2008. I truly think with numbers that high, by choosing to go into nursing find a job in the current job market will not be as difficult as many other careers, due to the economy.

By choosing to go into the nursing field you are offered certain benefits. One benefit everyone loves is the pay. According to the Bureau of Statistics, nursing school graduates have a higher starting salary than those recent graduates in other industries. Then there is Insurance which would cover medical, dental and vision. Also available to you would be a 401k retirement plan, something that every American should be investing in. Depending on the company you are working for you may also be offered vacation, paid holidays, sick leave, paid time off and even tuition reimbursement for those of you that want to continue your education. As for flexibility, working as a nurse gives the flexibility for sure. Most facilities that nurses work in offer multiple schedules that range from 4, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts as well as morning, evening and over night shifts. So whether you need to adjust you schedule for school, family, other employment, or anything else life throws at you the possibilities are wide range for those in the nursing
