My father was the first of my parents to work in the U of M Health System in Ann Arbor, and soon after, my mother joined him. Being the child of two U of M nurses has therefore greatly influenced my inclination towards the school. My parents were not my only influences, however.
After more research, college visits, and informational sessions, I became more attracted to the University of Michigan. Prior to visiting the Ann Arbor campus in July of 2015 and again in September, I had already known a few statistics about the University due to some school assignments relating to college and careers. I was especially enticed by the fact that the School of Nursing is one of the top ten nursing schools in the United States. Upon learning that, I went on to tour campus and I fell in love with it.
The first time I attended a college visit, I learned that the U of M contained a very large, yet tight-knit community and there are many opportunities to help me get further in my studies. I saw that the school flowed of diversity, and coming from a small town with little variance in race, I immediately felt like I belonged to this school. When I saw the University for the second time, I still felt that sense of fitting in. On the same day, coincidentally, the School of Nursing opened its new building, featuring new labs, exam rooms, and manikins. That is when I knew that going to this school and utilizing
