“Nursing turnover is a major issue impacting the performance and profitability of healthcare organizations. Healthcare organizations require a stable, highly trained and fully engaged nursing staff to provide effective levels of patient care” (Hunt, 2009, p. 2). In order to prevent nurse turnover rates in healthcare facilities, one must understand why it is occurring to create change. Many nurses are hired into positions having high expectations and once they realize it’s not what they thought it was going to be, they quit their job causing increased costs and workload for the remaining working nurses (Hunt, 2009). As it is stated in the GCU lecture note a biblical leadership is one in which a leader sets and example and others will follow faithfully (GCU, 2011). For instance when there is a conflict between a co- worker the nurse will first personally talk to the nurse that is causing a problem and tell them how they are feeling. If the nurse does not stop with his or her bullying behavior they can go to the manager and explain what is going on. The manager will then step in and meet with the nurse who is causing the problem and let the nurse know that their behavior is unacceptable and is causing a dysfunctional and stressful environment to the other nurse, which can cause the nurse to quit if the problem is still continuing. It is an extreme problem to have increased amounts of nursing turnover rates, managers and leaders must work together to find approaches to help decrease this problem. “Excessive turnover reduces a nursing organizations ability to meet patients’ needs and to ensure high- quality care” (Galletta et al., 2013, p. 2).
