The Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners (FLANP) supports the ability for ARNPs to certify DNR orders, sign Baker Acts and death certificates, we well as the removal of the physician supervisory licensure requirements (FLANP). Beginning January 1, 2017 ARNPs will have the authority under law to prescribe Schedule II, III, or IV drugs (Florida Board of Nursing, 2016). Just as the restrictions over prescriptions rights have evolved over time, so too can other laws that will allow NPs to practice to their fullest potential (Keeling, 2015).
