The first step in becoming a nurse practitioner is taking the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses) and becoming a registered nurse. However, you must meet the requirements set to enter an advanced nursing program and earn your Master of Science in Nursing. To enter the program you must have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, science, or a related field. You also have to pass a Graduate Record Exam. When you’ve finished the program, you must pass a certification exam given by a national board.
Nurse Practitioners are nurses with advanced training, usually in a specialized field of practice. They evaluate their patients, figure out the best way to improve their health, and examine ways to incorporate healthy behaviors
