My professional goal as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner(AGNP) is improving health, function and quality of life for the geriatric population. I believe this goal falls perfectly under the 7th Essential in the AACN's "The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice" (2006), which is “Clinical Prevention and Population Health for Improving the Nation’s Health”. By meeting this essential, I will be equipped with knowledge and skill to deliver evidenced-based, appropriate and affordable care to the fast growing aging group.
